Random WIERD notes....

It is rightly said that you can be lonely even with company. I also feel that it can be complete silence even when there is noise around. I get this feeling most often when I am besides the sea. With roaring waves in front of you, and no one with you, it gives a feeling of imense lonliness. Lie on the beach and look up, what you see is a vast ocean of darkness with several dots which we call as stars. What you see is a huge pool of darkness all around you. The anti climax of roaring waves and the huge emptiness of darkness gives me a wierd feeling. What is it that I am looking for? What is that I am in the midst of all? I stands for what I am. But what is that I? Questions, Questions and only Questions!!! Does it make any sense now, when you are sitting in your room reading this? It doesn't atleast to me, atleaast not now. It seems like that beach and the dark sky was something I imagined, I guess. Don't laugh. I know what you are thinking. That I have gone mad. But again what is this I. When I am in the office I am an employee of a certain company. When I am at home, I am the brother or son of someone. When I am with my friends I am one of their friends. But when I am with no one, I am lost. Who am I? Is the meaning of my existence only relative to someone or something? What is it that the individual I stand for? If you are reading this and if you think it makes any sense and if you know the answer, let me know.

FREEDOM...

The preamble of the Indian Constitution talks about equality, liberty and fraternity among a lot many other things. But today these three words stand as just mere words for almost all of us. Their meanings are lost somewhere, or rather for most of us they never had a meaning, in the first place, with the exception of only ‘Liberty’. Liberty in other words freedom is something which is readily accepted by us. But is freedom what we understand it as, is that the real freedom? By freedom we understand we that we have the liberty to do what we wish to, obviously considering the legal constraints. What we simply don’t want to understand is that freedom also means accepting the same liberty of others. We tend to live by rules or principles which mean something for us but when the same rules or principles are applied to others the meaning or the importance changes. What I am trying to say in context does not pertain to some great idea but it pertains to the usual things we do everyday in our lives. This may include our habit of throwing garbage, spitting on the roads, the way we drive, anything or rather everything. For instance, any fine day driving on the road, more than once we tend to feel that some guy is driving in such and such way, but at the same time we never think how are we driving. A senior executive of some company will always sigh on someone taking a turn without indicating, when he is driven by his driver. But the same person while driving will never think of it. My reason of mentioning a senior executive is to say that the ‘chalta hai’ attitude is not limited to a certain group of people which can be categorized by age, status or anything else. A autoriksha driver and a person driving his own Mercedes are the same, talking attitude wise, obviously I should mention that there are exceptions.

A few days back I was watching ‘we the people’ on NDTV 24/7. A few people were discussing on the importance of national symbols and do we take them too seriously. Ask me, I would say theoretically yes but practically not all. Reason being we don’t care about the values which are embodied in our national symbols.

We also have a habit of commenting on almost everything and doing nothing. I suppose I am also doing the same thing. Also I do not want to defend myself by saying some excuses, which again we have in plenty. Changing the world may be or may not be in our hands but changing our attitude and the way in which we handle things is certainly in our hands.
